Services Offered

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
(ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or ACT aims to teach clients how to respond to thoughts and feelings in a more values-aligned and meaningful way. Essentially, ACT encourages clients to show up to their thoughts and feelings with openness, curiosity, and compassion, and then decide how to move forward in the way that takes steps toward values, meaning, and vitality.

In ACT the goal is not for a client to rid themselves of unhelpful thoughts, sharp emotions, or unfortunate circumstances, but to make room for them all as they occur and ultimately choose which components are important to lean into (even if they are painful) and which components are important to let go of (even if they are comfortable).

The final result of ACT is a significant increase in "psychological flexibility" meaning that one can A) remain open, B) remain present, and C) connect with what matters- regardless of thoughts, feelings, and circumstances.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy
(ART)

Accelerated Resolution Therapy or ART is a trauma therapy that uses rapid eye-movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation  to help process a "scene" that involves a traumatic experience. In doing so, the strong responses associated with a  the visual aspects of traumatic
experience becomes much less intense and much more manageable.

Beyond processing a scene, clients engaging in an ART session are guided on how to alter the scene which adds to alleviation of traumatic responses even further. During this process check-ins happen frequently to ensure clients are comfortable and reaffirmed with their control of the session.

All in all, a client who undergoes ART will retain the facts and the knowledge of what had occurred, but will no longer be haunted or triggered by the scenes replaying in the mind over and over again.

Motivational Interviewing
(MI)

Motivational Interviewing or MI is a powerful tool that helps encourage change in the face of uncertainty, low motivation, or motivation towards things that counter goals.

Clients that experience motivational interviewing will move from the "pre-contemplation" state of change all the way through the "maintenance" of change.

Motivational interviewing also helps address "relapse" and helps to recenter a client back into "preparation" and "action" stages.

Solutions Focused Brief Therapy
(SFBT)

Solutions Focused Breif Therapy or SFBT is all about tapping into innate strengths and forms of resilience by examining "exceptions" to the patterns which include times when the problem is not occurring at all or times when the problem is occurring with less intensity than usual.

While empathy and compassion is always shown to clients, SFBT does not focus on negatives or when things are going wrong. Instead, clients engaging in SFBT will practice examining what factors are contributing to things going right or how seemingly diminutive events can lead to large changes.

In SFBT, goals are a major focus of treatment. Often times, the miracle question followed by living out a miracle day leads to significant insights and progress toward goals.

Cost of Services

Self Pay:

KJK Counseling Services, LLC offers the following self-pay rates:

  • $150 for the first session

  • $100 for every additional session

The self-pay rate is set by Kevin to cover the cost of services rendered.  Sometimes the rate that is billed to the insurance company is higher than the self-pay rate.  Self-pay can be beneficial for clients who have a high deductible, high out-of-pocket maximums, or who do not wish for their mental health status to be disclosed to their insurance company. Self-pay is also beneficial for clients who are not seeking to work on a mental health disorder, but are simply looking to make progress in personal growth.

Insurance:

KJK Counseling Services, LLC is in network with the following insurances:

  • Aetna

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield Association

  • Verity Health

  • United Healthcare

Each insurance company has a contract with KJK Counseling Services, LLC outlining the rate they will pay for Kevin's service provision. Generally, this rate tends to fall between $100-$150 per service rendered. This contracted rate is not fixed and can be modified at any given time. It is up to each client to know their benefits. This helps clarify the expectation for co-payments, expenses, and what services your insurance covers. In order for insurance to pay for services, a formal diagnosis oultlined in the DSM-V TR must be reported to the insurance company.
